1955年，欧洲最富声望的著名设计协会(Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen)在德国城市埃森(Essen)设立的红点奖（Red Dot Award），与德国“IF奖”、美国“IDEA奖”并称为世界三大设计奖。红点奖以“促进环境和人类和谐的设计”为理念，涵盖了多种产品和传播设计，该奖项“只授予那些凭借非凡的设计而从同类中脱颖而出的作品”，被公认为国际性创意和设计的认可标志。

红点设计奖致力于选拔每年度最优异之作品。红点设计奖接受来自全球各地的设计公司、广告公司、设计师及企业报名参加，在 50个参赛组别中送交设计及创意作品参加评选。评选方式忠实遵循寻找优良设计与创新（In search of good design and innovation）之理念，由49位行业领先的专业人士组成红点评审团对所有参赛作品进行评审，只有卓越且设计精良的作品,才能获得专业的国际评审的肯定，颁予备受推崇的奖项殊荣。

The RedDot Design Award is dedicated to selecting the most outstanding works each year. The Red Dot Design Award accepts applications from design companies, advertising agencies, designers and companies from all over the world. Designs and creative works are submitted for selection in 50 participating categories. The selection method follows the concept of In search of good design and innovation. A red review panel composed of 49 industry-leading professionals will review all entries. Only outstanding and well-designed works can be recognized by professional international reviewers. Awarded the prestigious award.
